When computers think like people

Machines have hitherto only been able to "see" at a very rudimentary level. Special solutions were developed for part problems by restricting the complexity of the context, with artificial lighting for example or by specific pre-positioning of objects. The approach has always been the attempt to understand the world first, and then to model it. The desire to understand a problem in its entirety is not only an insurmountable task, but is also contrary to the natural, biological efficiency of mankind.
